Our Services

Group Sing-Alongs

These sing-alongs typically include 10-15 individuals that meet about once a month. Songbooks with lyrics to well-known melodies are provided. Led by a pianist and vocalist, these group sessions aim to foster a sense of connection, improve communication and enhance overall wellness.

Individual Sessions

These regular sessions are held one to one. Participants have the opportunity to select from a variety of activities including musical meditation and mindful colouring. Individual sessions boost confidence, offer a wider range of flexibility to support the resident’s needs and provide a comfortable space for meaningful conversation.

High School Workshops

Dementia awareness workshops are offered to students in grades 9 and 10. From communication tips to case scenarios, these interactive sessions equip students with the skills to volunteer with elders in the community. Not only do they provide insight into the interdisciplinary field of health, but they also empower students to take action through the arts to support mental health.

 FAQs

  • No music experience is required. Your music care specialist will guide you through the activities and tailor them to ensure you feel comfortable and engaged.

  • It depends on your preferences and your comfort level interacting with others. Both types of sessions are extremely beneficial, but the type of activities within each vary:

    • Group settings include more collaborative playing such as maraca circles or sing-alongs.

    • One to one settings would have more personalized musical meditations and song writing.

  • Any musical instruments or artistic materials including brushes, paint and colouring pencils will be provided. You do not have to bring anything to attend a session.
